The client requested that the utilitarian lean-to at the rear of the home which is north facing to be substantially modified to accommodate a new vaulted ceiling to a contemporary open plan living area. This in turn flows onto a large outdoor room which is a natural extension of the indoor living space. With the large sliding doors open, the two spaces become one. A large triangular window over the doors allows north facing light deep into the space.
